This 1988 Vauxhall Nova SR has driven less than a mile in twelve months but it still deserves a deep wash before storage.
The 1988 Vauxhall Nova SR 1.3 has done less than 13k miles and only one of those was in the last year, however it's still time to remove the cobwebs and treat her to a deep wash.
First we used the Vertool Hydro 360 snow foam lance with Alchemy Blueberry Whitewash Snowfoam, especially paying attention around the underbody, wheel arches etc. Whilst the foam dwells I take the Mammoth Big Softie brush to work in the solution around delicate areas like the grills, badges, mirrors, scuttle panels etc before rinsing and washing.
A glug of Alchemy Dirty Harry Shampoo into a 20 Ltrs bucket and the wash begins, using a Mammoth Fluffmeister Flex Washmitt for the upper body and a Fluffmeister Mini for the lower panels and wheels. The wheels also get attention from our Mammoth Woolly Wheel Wand and once again the Big Softie Brushes, and the tyres get a scrub with the Mammoth Tyre Scrub Brush before it's time to rinse.
The Mammoth Triple Twist Dual Large is the ideal towel for removing water from the paintwork, together with the Triple Twist Mini around the lower areas. The korean triple twist fibres leave a streak free finish with one pass drying.
One thing about washing a car that's going into storage is ensuring you've removed as much water as possible to avoid corrosion, especially on an old classic like this. After towel drying we used the Vertool Airdry 180 forced air dryer, this quickly removes trapped water in sills, seals, grills and under body.
